Ch 11Verse 36
Adhyāya 11 Shloka 36

arjuna uvāca | sthāne hṛṣīkeśa tava prakīrtyā jagat prahṛṣyatyanurajyate ca | rakṣāṃsi bhītāni diśo dravanti sarve namasyanti ca siddha-saṅghāḥ || 36 ||

"Arjuna said: O master of the senses, the world becomes joyful upon hearing Your name, and thus everyone becomes attached to You. Although the perfected beings offer You their respectful homage, the demons are afraid, and they flee here and there. All this is rightly done."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Recovering slightly, Arjuna begins his grand prayer of glorification. He addresses Krishna as Hrishikesa (Master of the senses) and says: It is completely right and proper (sthāne) that the entire world becomes deeply joyful and rejoices (jagat prahṛṣyaty) and becomes deeply attached in love to You (anurajyate ca) simply by chanting and hearing Your glories and fame (tava prakīrtyā). It is equally right that the demons, filled with terror (rakṣāṃsi bhītāni), flee and scatter in all directions (diśo dravanti), while all the assemblies of perfected beings (sarve siddha-saṅghāḥ) bow down and offer You their respectful homage (namasyanti ca).
