Ch 11Verse 3
Adhyāya 11 Shloka 3

एवमेतद्यथात्थ त्वमात्मानं परमेश्वर | द्रष्टुमिच्छामि ते रूपमैश्वरं पुरुषोत्तम || ३ ||

evam etad yathāttha tvam ātmānaṃ parameśvara | draṣṭum icchāmi te rūpam aiśvaraṃ puruṣottama || 3 ||

"O greatest of all personalities, O supreme form, though I see You here before me in Your actual position, as You have described Yourself, I wish to see how You have entered into this cosmic manifestation. I want to see that form of Yours."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna boldly expresses his ultimate desire. He addresses Krishna as Parameśvara (Supreme Lord) and Puruṣottama (Greatest of all Persons). He says: Everything is exactly as You have described Yourself to be (evam etad yathāttha tvam ātmānaṃ). I accept it entirely. However, I now deeply desire and wish to actually see (draṣṭum icchāmi) that specific, majestic, sovereign form of Yours (te rūpam aiśvaraṃ) by which You enter and pervade this entire cosmic manifestation.
