Ch 11Verse 4
Adhyāya 11 Shloka 4

मन्यसे यदि तच्छक्यं मया द्रष्टुमिति प्रभो | योगेश्वर ततो मे त्वं दर्शयात्मानमव्ययम् || ४ ||

manyase yadi tac chakyaṃ mayā draṣṭum iti prabho | yogeśvara tato me tvaṃ darśayātmānam avyayam || 4 ||

"If You think that I am able to behold Your cosmic form, O my Lord, O master of all mystic power, then kindly show me that unlimited universal Self."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Despite his bold request in the previous verse, Arjuna immediately frames it with profound humility. He addresses Krishna as Prabhū (Master) and Yogeśvara (Master of all mystic powers). He says: Only if You think and consider (manyase yadi) that it is actually possible or within my capacity (tac chakyaṃ) for me to see it (mayā draṣṭum iti). If You deem me qualified, then please (tato), O Lord, reveal and show to me (me tvaṃ darśaya) Your imperishable, unlimited universal Self (ātmānam avyayam).
