Adhyāya 11 Shloka 27

vaktrāṇi te tvaramāṇā viśanti daṃṣṭrā-karālāni bhayānakāni | kecid vilagnā daśanāntareṣu sandṛśyante cūrṇitair uttamāṅgaiḥ || 27 ||

"I see all people rushing full speed into Your mouths, as moths dash to destruction in a blazing fire. Some I see trapped with heads smashed between Your teeth."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna provides a horrifyingly graphic conclusion to the vision of the warriors. He describes: All of these warriors are rushing at tremendous speed (tvaramāṇā viśanti) directly into Your mouths (vaktrāṇi te), which are exceedingly terrifying and frightful (bhayānakāni) because of those fierce, jagged teeth (daṃṣṭrā-karālāni). I clearly see (sandṛśyante) some of them becoming stuck and trapped between Your teeth (kecid vilagnā daśanāntareṣu), with their heads and highest limbs completely crushed and pulverized to powder (cūrṇitair uttamāṅgaiḥ).
