"O mighty-armed one, all the planets with their demigods are disturbed at seeing Your great form, with its many faces, eyes, arms, thighs, legs, and bellies and Your many terrible teeth; and as they are disturbed, so am I."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna describes the sheer, horrifying scale of the manifestation. He addresses Krishna as 'mahā-bāho' (mighty-armed one) and says: Upon seeing (dṛṣṭvā) this immense, gigantic form of Yours (rūpaṃ mahat te) possessing countless faces and eyes (bahu-vaktra-netraṃ), countless arms, thighs, and feet (bahu-bāhūru-pādam), countless bellies (bahūdaraṃ), and made terrifying by countless fierce, awful teeth (bahu-daṃṣṭrā-karālaṃ), all the planetary systems and their inhabitants are profoundly disturbed and terrified (lokāḥ pravyathitās). And in exactly the same way, so am I (tathāham).
