"All the various manifestations of Lord Siva, the Adityas, the Vasus, the Sadhyas, the Visvedevas, the two Asvis, the Maruts, the forefathers, the Gandharvas, the Yaksas, the Asuras and the perfected demigods are beholding You in wonder."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna catalogs the entire assembly of celestial and cosmic observers who share his shock. He notes: The eleven Rudras (manifestations of Shiva), the twelve Adityas, the eight Vasus, the Sadhyas, the Visvedevas, the twin Asvini-kumaras, the forty-nine Maruts, and the Ushmapas (the forefathers/Pitrs). Furthermore, the entire multitudes of Gandharvas (celestial singers), Yakshas (treasure keepers), Asuras (demons), and Siddhas (perfected beings)—absolutely all of them (sarve) are gazing upon and beholding You (vīkṣante tvāṃ) completely struck with profound wonder and astonishment (vismitāś caiva).
