Ch 10Verse 40
Adhyāya 10 Shloka 40

नान्तोऽस्ति मम दिव्यानां विभूतीनां परन्तप | एष तूद्देशतः प्रोक्तो विभूतेर्विस्तरो मया || ४० ||

nānto 'sti mama divyānāṃ vibhūtīnāṃ paran-tapa | eṣa tūddeśataḥ prokto vibhūter vistaro mayā || 40 ||

"O mighty conqueror of enemies, there is no end to My divine manifestations. What I have spoken to you is but a mere indication of My infinite opulences."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna explicitly concludes the catalog of His manifestations. He addresses Arjuna as Paran-tapa (chastiser of enemies) and reiterates the fundamental limit of language: There is absolutely no end, limit, or boundary (nānto 'sti) to My divine, transcendental opulences and manifestations (mama divyānāṃ vibhūtīnāṃ). Everything that I have just spoken and described to you in this chapter (eṣa prokto vibhūter vistaro mayā) is truly nothing more than a mere indication, a brief summary, or a tiny sample (uddeśataḥ).
