Adhyāya 10 Shloka 25

महर्षीणां भृगुरहं गिरामस्म्येकमक्षरम् | यज्ञानां जपयज्ञोऽस्मि स्थावराणां हिमालयः || २५ ||

maharṣīṇāṃ bhṛgur ahaṃ girām asmy ekam akṣaram | yajñānāṃ japa-yajño 'smi sthāvarāṇāṃ himālayaḥ || 25 ||

"Of the great sages I am Bhrigu; of vibrations I am the transcendental Om. Of sacrifices I am the chanting of the holy names [japa], and of immovable things I am the Himalayas."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna continues mapping His divine signature. Among the greatest of cosmic sages (maharṣīṇāṃ), He declares Himself to be Bhrigu (bhṛgur ahaṃ). Among all spoken words, sounds, and vibrations (girām), He is the single, supreme syllable Om (asmy ekam akṣaram). Among all forms of ritualistic sacrifice (yajñānāṃ), He is 'japa-yajña', the quiet, meditative chanting of holy names (japa-yajño 'smi). And among all massive, immovable objects in the world (sthāvarāṇāṃ), He is the towering Himalayan mountains (himālayaḥ).
