Ch 10Verse 17
Adhyāya 10 Shloka 17

कथं विद्यामहं योगिंस्त्वां सदा परिचिन्तयन् | केषु केषु च भावेषु चिन्त्योऽसि भगवन्मया || १७ ||

kathaṃ vidyām ahaṃ yogiṃs tvāṃ sadā paricintayan | keṣu keṣu ca bhāveṣu cintyo 'si bhagavan mayā || 17 ||

"How shall I constantly think of You, and how shall I know You, O Supreme Mystic? In what various forms are You to be remembered, O Supreme Personality of Godhead?"

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna asks two highly practical, methodological questions. He addresses Krishna as the Supreme Master of Mysticism (yogin) and asks: 'How (kathaṃ) can I truly know and understand You (vidyām ahaṃ) while constantly and perpetually meditating upon and thinking of You (tvāṃ sadā paricintayan)?' Secondly, he asks the Supreme Lord (bhagavan): 'In what specific various forms, objects, or states of being (keṣu keṣu ca bhāveṣu) are You to be remembered and contemplated (cintyo 'si) by me (mayā)?'
