वक्तुमर्हस्यशेषेण दिव्या ह्यात्मविभूतयः | याभिर्विभूतिभिर्लोकानिमांस्त्वं व्याप्य तिष्ठसि || १६ ||

vaktum arhasy aśeṣeṇa divyā hy ātma-vibhūtayaḥ | yābhir vibhūtibhir lokān imāṃs tvaṃ vyāpya tiṣṭhasi || 16 ||

"Please tell me in detail of Your divine opulences by which You pervade all these worlds."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Having admitted his own inability to fully comprehend the Supreme, Arjuna makes a direct, passionate request. He says: Please, You alone are able and worthy (arhasy) to describe and tell me (vaktum) completely and without omission (aśeṣeṇa) about Your own divine, transcendental opulences and manifestations (divyā hy ātma-vibhūtayaḥ). I wish to know those specific opulences and powers (yābhir vibhūtibhir) by which You pervade, penetrate, and remain situated within (vyāpya tiṣṭhasi) all these various worlds and universes (imāṃs lokān).
