Ch 1Verse 3
Adhyāya 1 Shloka 3

पश्यैतां पाण्डुपुत्राणामाचार्य महतीं चमूम् | व्यूढां द्रुपदपुत्रेण तव शिष्येण धीमता || ३ ||

paśyaitāṃ pāṇḍuputrāṇām ācārya mahatīṃ camūm | vyūḍhāṃ drupadaputreṇa tava śiṣyeṇa dhīmatā || 3 ||

"Behold, O Teacher, this mighty army of the sons of Pandu, arrayed in military formation by your talented disciple, the son of Drupada."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Duryodhana points out the Pandava army to Dronacharya. The specific mention of Dhristadyumna (Drupada's son) is a deliberate attempt to agitate Drona. Drona had a long-standing feud with King Drupada. By highlighting that Drona’s own student is now leading the charge against him, Duryodhana is trying to ensure that Drona fights with personal vengeance rather than just professional duty.
