Ch 1Verse 28
Adhyāya 1 Shloka 28

अर्जुन उवाच | दृष्ट्वेमं स्वजनं कृष्ण युयुत्सुं समुपस्थितम् || २८ ||

"Arjuna said: Seeing my kinsmen, O Krishna, arrayed and eager to fight..."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna begins to speak his heart to Krishna. The sentence is cut off (it continues into the next verse), but the core of his speech is established here: the root cause of his distress is seeing 'sva-janam' (his own people) standing ready to kill and be killed.
