"Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer or give away, and whatever austerities you perform—do that, O son of Kunti, as an offering to Me."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna expands the principle of devotion from specific rituals to the entirety of human life. He tells Arjuna (kaunteya): whatever general work or action you perform (yat karoṣi), whatever food you consume for survival (yad aśnāsi), whatever sacrifices you execute (yaj juhoṣi), whatever charity you give (dadāsi yat), and whatever voluntary austerities or disciplines you undertake (yat tapasyasi)—do all of that (tat kuruṣva) as a direct offering unto Me (mad-arpaṇam).
