Ch 7Verse 1
Adhyāya 7 Shloka 1

श्रीभगवानुवाच | मय्यासक्तमना: पार्थ योगं युञ्जन्मदाश्रय: | असंशयं समग्रं मां यथा ज्ञास्यसि तच्छृणु || १ ||

śrī-bhagavān uvāca | mayy āsakta-manāḥ pārtha yogaṃ yuñjan mad-āśrayaḥ | asaṃśayaṃ samagraṃ māṃ yathā jñāsyasi tac chṛṇu || 1 ||

"The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Now hear, O son of Pritha, how by practicing yoga in full consciousness of Me, with mind attached to Me, you can know Me in full, free from doubt."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna immediately picks up the thread from the final verse of Chapter 6 (which stated the highest Yogi is the one devoted to Him). He commands Arjuna: Now hear and listen (tac chṛṇu), O son of Pritha, how you shall know Me (yathā jñāsyasi māṃ). This knowledge will be total, complete, and entire (samagraṃ), absolutely free from any doubt whatsoever (asaṃśayaṃ). How is it achieved? By practicing Yoga (yogaṃ yuñjan) with a mind completely attached to and absorbed in Me (mayy āsakta-manāḥ), and taking Me as your sole refuge and ultimate shelter (mad-āśrayaḥ).
