"And of all yogis, the one with great faith who always abides in Me, thinks of Me within himself, and renders transcendental loving service to Me—he is the most intimately united with Me in yoga and is the highest of all. That is My opinion."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

In the final verse of Chapter 6, Krishna delivers the ultimate plot twist, setting up the entire middle section of the Bhagavad Gita. Having just declared the Yogi to be the supreme human in Verse 46, He now reveals the supreme Yogi. He says: But even among absolutely all the Yogis (yoginām api sarveṣāṃ), the specific one who constantly abides in Me with their innermost soul (mad-gatenāntar-ātmanā), and who, full of profound faith and love (śraddhāvān), worships and serves Me (bhajate yo māṃ)—that specific person is considered by Me to be the absolute highest, most perfectly yoked, and supreme of all (sa me yuktatamo mataḥ).
