Ch 4Verse 34
Adhyāya 4 Shloka 34

तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया | उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिन: || ३४ ||

tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśnena sevayā | upadekṣyanti te jñānaṃ jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥ || 34 ||

"Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Having established that Jñāna (Knowledge) is the ultimate goal, Krishna now gives the precise, three-part behavioral algorithm for how to acquire it. He commands: Learn that truth (tad viddhi) by doing three things: 1. By respectful submission/prostration (praṇipātena). 2. By relevant, sincere inquiry (paripraśnena). 3. By rendering service (sevayā). If you execute this protocol, the wise ones (jñāninas), who have actually seen the truth (tattva-darśinaḥ), will impart and reveal that knowledge to you (upadekṣyanti te jñānaṃ).
