daivam evāpare yajñaṃ yoginaḥ paryupāsate | brahmāgnāv apare yajñaṃ yajñenaivopajuhvati || 25 ||

"Some yogis perfectly worship the demigods by offering different sacrifices to them, and some of them offer sacrifices in the fire of the Supreme Brahman."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Having defined the ultimate nature of Yajna (Sacrifice) in Verse 24, Krishna now begins to list the different practical varieties of Yajna performed by different types of seekers. He states: Some yogis (apare yoginaḥ) perfectly worship and offer sacrifices to the demigods or celestial forces (daivam eva yajñaṃ paryupāsate). On the other hand, there are higher yogis who offer the sacrifice itself (apare yajñaṃ) purely into the fire of the Supreme Brahman (brahmāgnau), by means of the self or the sacrifice alone (yajñenaivopajuhvati).
