Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna now profiles the 'Worker' (kartā). The worker in goodness (sāttvika) is liberated from material attachments (mukta-saṅgo) and is completely free from false ego or the need to boast (anahaṁ-vādī). They are endowed with immense determination (dhṛty) and bubbling enthusiasm (utsāha). Finally, they remain absolutely steady and unaffected (nirvikāraḥ) whether the project ends in success (siddhy) or failure (asiddhyor).
