gām āviśya ca bhūtāni dhārayāmy aham ojasā | puṣṇāmi cauṣadhīḥ sarvāḥ somo bhūtvā rasātmakaḥ || 13 ||

"I enter into each planet, and by My energy they stay in orbit. I become the moon and thereby supply the juice of life to all vegetables."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Moving from light to gravitational and biological maintenance, Krishna explains how the universe remains stable. He states that He personally enters into each planet (gām āviśya) and, by His own inconceivable energy (aham ojasā), holds all these massive celestial bodies in their orbits (dhārayāmi). Furthermore, on a biological level, He becomes the moon (somo bhūtvā), which possesses the life-giving essence (rasātmakaḥ), to nourish and supply the juice of life to all plants and vegetables (puṣṇāmi cauṣadhīḥ sarvāḥ).
