Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

In the grand finale of Chapter 14, Krishna makes a staggering theological declaration to clarify His own position. He states that He (the Supreme Person, Krishna) is the ultimate foundation and source (pratiṣṭhāham) of the vast, formless Brahman. He is also the basis of immortality (amṛtasya), the eternal constitutional religion (śāśvatasya dharmasya), and the source of the ultimate, unending spiritual bliss (sukhasyaikāntikasya).
