Ch 14Verse 19
Adhyāya 14 Shloka 19

नान्यं गुणेभ्यः कर्तारं यदा द्रष्टानुपश्यति | गुणेभ्यश्च परं वेत्ति मद्भावं सोऽधिगच्छति || १९ ||

nānyaṁ guṇebhyaḥ kartāraṁ yadā draṣṭānupaśyati | guṇebhyaś ca paraṁ vetti mad-bhāvaṁ so 'dhigacchati || 19 ||

"When one properly sees that in all activities no other performer is at work than these modes of nature and he knows the Supreme Lord, who is transcendental to all these modes, he attains My spiritual nature."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna pivots from describing the prison to explaining how to escape it. Liberation occurs when the seer (draṣṭā) observes clearly that the three gunas are the *only* agents performing actions (nānyaṁ guṇebhyaḥ kartāraṁ). Furthermore, the soul must realize the Supreme Lord who exists entirely beyond (param) these modes. By doing this, the soul attains the divine nature (mad-bhāvaṁ).
