Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna concludes the profoundly beautiful 12th Chapter by summarizing the ultimate ideal. He states: But as for those (ye tu) who faithfully follow, honor, and completely engage in (paryupāsate) this immortal, life-giving nectar of Dharma and righteous duty (dharmyāmṛtam idaṃ) exactly in the manner that I have just spoken and prescribed it (yathoktaṃ). Those who are full of deep, unwavering faith (śraddhadhānā), who hold Me as the absolute supreme destination and goal of their existence (mat-paramā), such pure devotees (bhaktās) are exceedingly, transcendently dear to Me (te 'tīva me priyāḥ).
