Ch 10Verse 42
Adhyāya 10 Shloka 42

अथवा बहुनैतेन किं ज्ञातेन तवार्जुन | विष्टभ्याहमिदं कृत्स्नमेकांशेन स्थितो जगत् || ४२ ||

athavā bahunaitena kiṃ jñātena tavārjuna | viṣṭabhyāham idaṃ kṛtsnam ekāṃśena sthito jagat || 42 ||

"But what need is there, Arjuna, for all this detailed knowledge? With a single fragment of Myself I pervade and support this entire universe."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Krishna concludes Chapter 10 with the ultimate 'mic-drop' statement of supreme majesty. He pauses the detailed explanation and asks rhetorically: But otherwise (athavā), what is the real need or use (kiṃ) for you to know all this vast, detailed knowledge (bahunaitena jñātena tava arjuna)? The macro reality is simply this: By a mere, single fractional part of Myself (ekāṃśena), I entirely pervade, hold up, and maintain (viṣṭabhyāham sthito) this entire cosmic universe (idaṃ kṛtsnam jagat).
