Ch 3Verse 2
Adhyāya 3 Shloka 2

व्यामिश्रेणेव वाक्येन बुद्धिं मोहयसीव मे | तदेकं वद निश्चित्य येन श्रेयोऽहमाप्नुयाम् || २ ||

vyāmiśreṇeva vākyena buddhiṃ mohayasīva me | tad ekaṃ vada niścitya yena śreyo 'ham āpnuyām || 2 ||

"My intelligence is bewildered by Your equivocal (mixed) instructions. Therefore, please tell me decisively which one path will be most beneficial for me."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

Arjuna expresses extreme frustration. He accuses Krishna of using 'vyāmiśreṇeva vākyena' (mixed, equivocal, or confusing words) which are bewildering his intellect (buddhiṃ mohayasīva me). Because he feels incapable of synthesizing Krishna's nuanced teachings on knowledge and action, he begs for a silver bullet. He demands: 'Tell me ONE thing decisively (tad ekaṃ vada niścitya) by which I can attain the highest good (śreyas).'
