Ch 2Verse 72
Adhyāya 2 Shloka 72

एषा ब्राह्मी स्थिति: पार्थ नैनां प्राप्य विमुह्यति | स्थित्वास्यामन्तकालेऽपि ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमृच्छति || ७२ ||

eṣā brāhmī sthitiḥ pārtha naināṃ prāpya vimuhyati | sthitvāsyām anta-kāle 'pi brahma-nirvāṇam ṛcchati || 72 ||

"That is the way of the spiritual and godly life (Brāhmī-sthiti), after attaining which a man is not bewildered. If one is thus situated even at the hour of death, one can enter into the kingdom of God (Brahma-nirvāṇa)."

Historical Context

The Direct Meaning

This is the grand conclusion of Chapter 2. Krishna gives a formal name to the state he has been describing since verse 55: 'Brāhmī-sthiti' (the state of Brahman/God-consciousness). He promises that anyone who attains this state is never again bewildered or deluded (naināṃ prāpya vimuhyati). Finally, he issues the ultimate guarantee: if a person can establish themselves in this state even at the very end of life, at the hour of death (anta-kāle 'pi), they will attain 'Brahma-nirvāṇa' (liberation/merging into the Absolute).
